In 2004 Rev. John F. Gee pastor of North American Martyrs Parish in Auburn Massachusetts envisioned a worthwhile use for a portion of the church parking lot. With a great need of housing in the town of Auburn, Father Gee began the necessary process to obtain funding for a new building that would accommodate thirty apartments, all serving very low income seniors. The complex would be named Kateri Tekakwitha Senior Housing.

Housing for Urban Development in Washington D. C. (HUD) and the Department for Community and Housing Development (DCHD) in Massachusetts, were aware of the need for affordable housing, and have been most supportive in their efforts to process the grant requests for necessary funding.

Recent approval of the final part of funding will allow for ground breaking in the near future.

With ever increasing enthusiasm Father Gee foresees the day that thirty new residents will be occupying apartments in Kateri Tekakwitha Senior Housing to be managed by Maloney Properties of Wellesley, Massachusetts
